Brunel Racing's Design Team

Brunel Racing's cars are designed by 3rd year Motorsport and Mechanical Engineering students, with guidance from both the final year management team, and academic project supervisors at the university.

Some of the team's designers will next year be going on to take industrial placements, or to study towards a Masters degree, whereas others are in their final year and will graduate in Summer 2010.

The design team is split into groups based upon the area of the car on which they are working.

Aero, Bodywork & Drivetrain

The aerodynamics, bodywork and drivetrain group is the responsibility of Daniel Sheard. It deals with the car's drivetrain, bodywork and aerodynamic devices, including projects ranging from the differential to the nosecone and crash structure.

Differential Adam Gumbrell
Drivetrain Bruce Bailey
Nose Cone & Crash Structure Sam Carter
Sidepods James Luetchford
Undertray Stuart Derry

Chassis & Driver Controls

The Chassis & Driver Controls group is managed by Andrew Haughton. Projects in this area encompass the car's chassis and the cockpit area, including the pedalbox and gearshift mechanism.

Testing & Simulation

Yannick Cheung is in charge of the testing and simulation group, responsible for the development of drivers aids, simulations as well as a theoretical front and rear wings.

Electronic Stability Control Mark Rennie
Front Wing Ahmad Jasim
Rear Wing Ben Vallely
Traction and Launch Control Ben Cottle
Vehicle Dynamics Simulation Thomas Deas

Powertrain

All projects relating to the car's engine are dealt with by the Powertrain Group, managed by James Stephens. The work in this area includes rolling road/dyno testing, engine mapping, intake and exhaust.
