15th Apr Back to Work
The team is back in the workshop to continue work on BR-X after the Easter break. After a well-earned week off during the University's Easter closedown, many members of the team are once again hard at work on the project. We have received another major metal order and will now be able to proceed with manufacture of many more components, including the uprights and wishbones.
Manufacture of our exhaust manifold is complete, for which our thanks go to Good Fabrications. The beatufiully sculpted part may now be tested with the engine on the dyno.
Trumpets for the engine's intake have also been machined and will soon be available for testing in conjunction with the exhaust.
Our aluminium differential housing has arrived from Quaife Engineering in what has been mistaken for an empty box, and clearly provides an enormous weight saving over the original part.
Furthermore, we have some great progress to look forward to in the coming weeks. CNC machining of our uprights has begun and should be completed soon, and the material for our monocoque chassis is due to arrive in a few days. Progress of the project is good, and everyone is now very eager to get to our first competition at Silverstone in July.
